SLM is an exploration company that has a portfolio of 10 granted and 4 late stage application, exclusive uranium exploration licenses in the Tim Mersoi sedimentary basin in Northwestern Niger with the total area of 6924.6 km².
Tim Mersoi basin hosts some of the world’s most economical sandstone uranium deposits with favorable geology, including Imouraren - the world’s second largest deposit. The region has been historically underexplored and has vast potential for new discoveries.
SLM employed a number of cutting-edge exploration technologies developed in the former USSR, along with traditional methods to identify perspective areas with potential to host significant deposits. A number of points with surface mineralization as well as underground anomalies have been mapped. The work conducted to date indicates that certain SLM properties are likely to contain deposits comparable in size to known deposits in Arlit area, currently being mined by Areva. In September 2010 SLM will commence a first-pass drilling program to test these anomalies.
